Storybook Photo Management Software FAQs

Storybook Photo Management Software FAQs

What is Storybook Photo Management?
Storybook Photo Management Software is a Windows application that allows you to import, organize, and tag property loss photos and then generate a richly detailed, comprehensive property damage report -- all in the fraction of the time most damage reports take.

What are Rooms and Sub-rooms?
Storybook software is designed for generating photo-based residential property damage reports. As such, we've pre-loaded it with a master list of the typical rooms of a typical residential property along with sections like roofing, exterior areas, and fencing. It's organized with "rooms" that contain "sub-rooms."

For example, a kitchen is a room while a pantry would be a sub-room of the kitchen. When you drop a photo into the pantry, Storybook will know that that photo belongs both to the kitchen and to the pantry. When generating the report, your photos will be grouped by room and sub-room.

What are Labels?
We took rooms and sub-rooms one step further by including what we call "labels" to each section. Labels reside in rooms and sub-rooms, but when you add a photo to a room or sub-room's label, that photo will be assigned that label's descriptive text. For example, the "distant view" label contains text that indicates that the photo contains a general distant view of the room and is not intended to show any damage. Thus, if you have a wide angle photo of the kitchen, dropping it into the Kitchen

Distant View label would tell Storybook that the photo is a distant view of the kitchen, and it would also mean that when the photo is printed in the report, it would contain the associated explanatory text.

What are Tags?
Tags are similar to labels in that they allow you to quickly attach descriptive text to your photos. They are not necessarily room specific though. We have tags for walls, floors, ceilings, roofing, fencing, cabinetry, assembly, trim, and so on. Tags may have a series of sub-tags (most do), allowing you to pick highly relevant text for your photos. For example, if you have a room where the wallpaper is damaged due to a water leak, choosing the "wallpaper - water leak" will allow you to automatically attach a detailed description to the photo describing that the photo is of damaged wallpaper due to a water leak.

Can I use Storybook Software to Create a Commercial Property Damage Report?
Absolutely. While the default preset is for a residential property, you can create your own presets as needed. If you typically work on claims involving schools, you could create a schools preset with rooms such as: principal's office, library, cafeteria, 1st grade wing, room 101, multipurpose room, etc. If you specialize in adjusting claims involving churches, you could create rooms such as: chapel, sanctuary, vestibule, altar, vestry, or administrative offices.

Can I customize Storybook Software?
Yes. As mentioned above, you can create your own presets. You can also make custom rooms, sub-rooms, labels, and tags. If you work for several different businesses, you can create different identities.

What do Storybook Damage Reports Contain?
Storybook damage reports are neatly organized PDF documents containing: a cover page with all of the pertinent information, table of contents page, damage summary page, and room-by-room damage reports with photos and text. If desired, you can also add a time-stamp indicating the time the report was generated.

Can I Email My Storybook Photo Damage Reports?
Yes. Storybook Photo Management Software includes a print-to-PDF utility that automatically generates a PDF report that can be emailed, uploaded to a document sharing service, saved to disk, saved to a USB drive, or printed.

Can I change some of Storybook Photo Management Software's default settings?
Yes. The menu bar across the top of the software contains a number of sections that can be reconfigured to best meet your needs. The main section for doing this is the Data Configuration section which contains various configurable tabs such as: Rooms, Sub-rooms, Labels, Tag List, Room Presets, Company Headers, Import/Export, and Global Settings.
